Show Gardens at Ploughing Championships

Our Exhibition garden held at the Ploughing Championships was a like a magnet within the crowds. Over 1000 people per hour entered the garden throughout the three day event. Our client found this of tremendous benefit to the town, both in terms of economics and public perception.

The overall design is structured to arouse curiosity, provide strategic glimpse views to key areas  and water features from the main thoroughfare and to draw people to the primary viewing area. From the primary viewing area, the most interesting central view of the garden was offered. The encompassing circle of planting combines many light textured plants such as bamboos and ornamental grasses, which provide a backbone through drifts of ornamental planting. Planting drifts, lawn, water and natural stone in sweeping lines were maximized to full extent within the confines of the rigid outline of the plot.

We were pleasantly surprised to find what a great marketing tool a garden can be, and the extent to which a well designed sanctuary space can draw attention within a busy show. This may be a useful idea for other towns, tourism bodies, corporations or business wanting to promote themselves at future shows.
