Our Approach

Hayes Ryan Landscape Architecture was founded by partners Anthony Ryan and Geraldine Hayes. Practising since 1993, both partners are qualified to degree level in landscape horticulture and masters level in landscape architecture.

We are a small, close-working team of landscape architects collaborating with clients and other professionals to create landscapes of distinct aesthetic appeal and sophistication.

Our work is characterised by an intuitive and personal approach to design. We strive to develop close working relationships with our clients. A deep-rooted understanding of each site, coupled with an artist’s vision, and a wealth of experience results in unique, sensitive and creative design solutions.

The design process we undertake is about looking on spaces differently. Our work is about what is right for each space and each client. Our unique insight often challenges a client’s perception of their space and its potential. We observe, reflect and interpret, always striving to answer the ‘unasked’ questions. We endeavour to understand the essence of what it takes for spaces to work, often the subtleties that are not immediately obvious inform the design direction.

Our objective is to build working partnerships with clients and other professionals who value creativity, vision and unique design solutions.

Clients have engaged us on projects ranging from small courtyards to public park and public realm landscapes. Rural estates and country properties are our speciality, and we have been privileged to have been commissioned on projects ranging from theme parks to historic landscapes and restorations, commercial and residential developments, therapeutic, healing and educational settings.

We have been commissioned to design numerous show gardens, which has provided us with a canvas for experimentation, and have received numerous Gold Awards at Bloom show (large garden category), receiving awards every year since 2007.

The landscapes we design are spaces of beauty. From small courtyards to rambling estates to public realm projects, the approach we take is one of art, science and craftsmanship in bringing the vision to life.
